For years, what drove me was proving.
Proving I was capable.
Proving I was right.
Proving I mattered.
Approval was fuel.
Fear was fuel.
Momentum came from not wanting to fall behind.
And it worked.
Until it didn’t.
Because fear-based momentum is loud.
It creates speed.
It creates results.
But it also creates pressure.
Lately, I’ve noticed something different.
The old urgency isn’t there in the same way.
The noise has quietened.
And quieter motivation feels… unfamiliar.
There’s less edge.
Less proving.
Less chasing.
Just a steadier sense of choice.
If you’ve ever felt that shift — where what used to drive you no longer fits — you’re not losing your edge.
You may simply be outgrowing the engine that got you here.
I’ll be talking more about this — the engines that drive us, and how to change them — at my local talk on the 25th.
It’s not about motivation.
It’s about understanding the system underneath it.
If that resonates, I’d love to see you there or buy my book to learn more.
