Too many leaders hide behind systems or external circumstances, blaming everything but themselves for the results of their actions. We’ve all seen it: shareholders’ meetings, press announcements, public statements that deflect rather than take ownership.
The truth is simple: culture change is the sole responsibility of leaders. The saying “lead by example” is not a cliché — it’s a necessity.
Every one of us is responsible for our actions, but when leaders respond from fear, it seeps into everything:
- Fear masked as anger.
- Poor listening.
- Blame-shifting.
- Toxic communication.
That becomes the culture of the organisation. And since business success depends on relationships — internally and externally — leaders must first look in the mirror, face their fears, and take responsibility for their choices.
Yes, we can all improve our lives by doing the same — but leaders carry a unique responsibility. Lead by fear, and fear dominates. Lead by choice, and people thrive.
👉 So I’ll ask: Is fear still the unspoken barrier in today’s boardrooms?
This is why I wrote my book:
How to Break Free of Fear – The Power of Choice
It’s a reminder that the power of people is the greatest asset any business has — and that power is only unlocked when fear is replaced with conscious choice.
